Based in Ballyrobert, Claire’s work is heavily inspired by nature – both the Northern Ireland landscape and the microscopic. Making porcelain bowls using the process of press moulding, each piece is a blank canvas for her to “drape” her pattern over. Once a bowl is made, Claire sands it to revel a smooth, blank canvas to apply pattern to and decorate by hand using coloured underglazes. The slow process ensures that through each stage of making, a high quality piece is produced. Selling her ceramics in a range of artisan craft outlets, Claire also takes commissions for bespoke pieces so that she can tailor colour palettes to the client’s interior.
